MUSCAT — The German Industry & Commerce Office (AHK) hosted a precedence-setting German Business Cruise on Saturday. Departing from Port Sultan Qaboos, the local and German business community enjoyed a relaxing evening with Muscat as the scenic backdrop.
The aim of this get-together from the German Industry & Commerce (AHK) was to bring together members of the German and local business community in the Sultanate of Oman, in order that they may share experiences and expertise while forging business relationships both locally and globally.
Sousann al Heureithi, Representative of the German Industry & Commerce Office (AHK) in Oman and Dr Peter Goepfrich, Delegate of German Industry and Commerce (AHK) in the lower Gulf region welcomed the guests on board, which consisted of numerous companies and organisations.
Dr Goepfrich pointed out the necessity of a regular platform for the German and local business community to network and presenting themselves. With events of this kind, AHK business support services, the Magazine Majlis, a members directory, advertising opportunities and many more services the German Industry and Commerce Office (AHK) is aiming to establish a Omani-German “Majlis”, a partnership to support business opportunities and ties.
Guest of honour Angelika Storz-Chakarji, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Oman, was on hand to welcome the guests on board. The inaugural business cruise this June focused on introducing companies from the tourism sector.
The keynote speaker for this event was Abdul Wahid al Farsi, VP of Corporate Affairs, Omran. His presentation “An Overview of Tourism Projects in Oman” was well received and prompted much discussion.
Event sponsor National Ferries Company (NFC) chairman Mehdi al Abdwani also took centre stage and spoke to the gathered community about “NFC’s role in the touristic infrastructure development of Oman”.
The evening closed with a stunning sunset and an extensive raffle draw sponsored by the Radisson Blu Hotel Muscat. The event was a huge success, enjoyed by all and will be a precursor to many more like it in the future.
